What is a random number generator?
A random number generator (RNG) produces numbers that cannot be predicted in advance, with every value in your chosen range having an equal probability of appearing. Online generators like this one use your browser's cryptographically strong randomness source, so each draw is fair and independent — previous results never influence the next ones.
How to use this random number generator
Enter the smallest and largest values you want (for example 1 and 100), choose how many numbers to draw, and decide whether duplicates are allowed. Press Generate and your numbers appear instantly. Turn on "No duplicates" for raffles, lottery-style picks, or any draw where each number may only appear once. Use the sort option to display results in ascending or descending order, or keep the original draw order.
Popular uses for random numbers
- Raffles and giveaways: pick fair winners from ticket numbers 1 to N with duplicates blocked.
- Games and decisions: roll virtual dice, choose who goes first, or settle debates impartially.
- Sampling and research: select random participants or data points without bias.
- Passwords and codes: combine with our password generator for unpredictable strings.
- Learning and practice: generate random math problems or quiz questions.
Are online random numbers really random?
For games, draws, classrooms, and everyday decisions, yes. This tool uses the Web Crypto API, the same strong randomness browsers use for security features. The output passes statistical randomness tests. It is not, however, certified for regulated gambling or cryptographic key generation, which require audited hardware systems.
