How the Pakistan electricity bill is calculated

Your meter units are charged slab by slab: the first 100 units at the lowest rate, the next block at a higher rate, and so on up to 700+ units. Then your bill adds fixed charges, the monthly fuel price adjustment (FPA) per unit, meter rent, GST at 18% on energy charges, and income tax on bills above ₨25,000.

Why bills jump suddenly

Crossing a slab boundary raises the rate on the extra units — so 301 units costs noticeably more than 299. Protected consumers (under 200 units for 6 months) pay lower rates, while higher consumption pushes you into non-protected tariffs. FPA also swings month to month with fuel prices.

How is the Pakistan electricity bill calculated?

Your units are charged slab by slab — the first 100 units at the lowest rate, the next block at a higher rate, and so on. Then fixed charges, fuel price adjustment (FPA), GST at 18% and income tax on larger bills are added.

What is FPA on the electricity bill?

FPA (Fuel Price Adjustment) is a per-unit surcharge that reflects changes in fuel costs for power generation. It varies month to month and is set by NEPRA.

GST is charged at 18% on the energy charges (after slabs, fixed charges and FPA are included). Lifeline consumers using very few units are exempt from some charges.
